Public Education
I will challenge North Carolina’s ranking as last in the nation for public school funding. NC needs to compensate teachers and ensure more school nurses, counselors, social workers, and school psychologists. I will always work for and will not stop until all families with infants, toddlers, and children under kindergarten have access to high-quality early childhood education.
Reproductive Freedom
I will champion and fight for reproductive health and family planning. I will oppose all legislation that attempts to restrict a person’s ability to make their own reproductive health care decisions, including the decision to access abortion care, in vitro fertilization, or contraception. Healthcare decisions must be made between people and their medical professional, not controlled by politicians who limit personal choices based on their personal beliefs instead of science and medicine.
Early Childhood Development
Our top priority should be ensuring quality of life for infants and toddlers so they survive and thrive from the start–it’s the foundation of the state’s future residents, workers, and leaders These investments and policies are intergenerational and produce the greatest return: significant social returns, academic returns, and economic returns for entire communities. N.C. can reclaim its standing as one of the best states for early childhood experiences.
Economy
Top economic barriers include: compensation not keeping pace with inflation and rising cost-of-living, unbearable costs of basic resources including housing, health care and child care, and making aging in place affordable. One of my top priorities for cost-of-living challenges is to address the cost of child care. Also, critical is that North Carolina’s minimum wage has been stuck at $7.25 an hour for the last 15 years. I applaud employers who choose to more fully compensate their labor force to be able to live in Wake County and NC. And still, too many people face impossible choices between necessities.
Preserving Democracy & Voting Rights
We need to break up the existing supermajority and restore democracy to our General Assembly. One party dictating and passing laws without “crossing the aisle” for debate or negotiation on significant bills and budgets limits democracy. Each of us deserve representation for laws that impact our lives.
Public Safety
The increasing number of school shootings are disturbing to me and I feel a sense of urgency to address this public health crisis. Wake County and many counties across the state do not use weapons detectors in schools and I really want to keep it that way. However, we may be in a time that requires such intervention. At the same time, we can’t be a state that repeals gun permits making it easier to secure a gun. I will always work to implement common-sense gun laws like permits and red flag laws.

Strong Foundations, Balanced Solutions

County Agenda

In 2024, I campaigned for NC House District 37. Today, I seek to continue public service as Wake County’s next Commissioner. I can offer a unique perspective while ensuring continuity. And, recent campaign momentum provides a foundation of volunteer and financial support to ensure a competitive District 2 campaign in 2026.

Professional and campaign experiences have sharpened my practice, shaped my understanding, and prepared me for county leadership in these ways:

  • Community development: Fostering partnerships and collaborations to identify and address the needs of a community.

  • Strategic planning & implementation: Developing and executing effective strategies to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Resource management: Effectively managing budgets and resources to maximize impact.

  • Early childhood development: Recognizing the foundational importance of early childhood experiences for every area of future success.

  • Educational equity: Ensuring all children have access to high-quality education regardless of their background.

Top Priorities, if elected Wake County Commissioner

  • Supporting continuity: Continuing the priorities of elected Matt Calabria and successfully advancing the 2029 strategic plan.

  • Improving transportation infrastructure: Addressing traffic congestion and resident mobility, including greenways.

  • Addressing rising cost of living: Working to make housing and childcare more affordable, expanding access to healthcare services.

These priorities will ensure Wake County is working as a multi-generational home from birth to end-of-life—where folks can succeed, regardless of their age or background.
